Change is the only constant in Singapore, for better or worse. No building is safe from a tear down, unless it has been granted special conservation status.
The old Chinatown area is one of such conserved areas. So, these quaint shop houses stand tall, even when they are increasingly surrounded by taller, newer buildings. In this instance, it’s a corner attack by Singapore’s tallest public housing complex, The Pinnacle @ Duxton.

Lived in Singapore but never saw Little India being shot so beautifully.
even worse in Hong Kong. Many here are looking up to the policies, legislation and anything that surpassed us from Singapore.
Do you mean the conservation policies?
It feels like an organized chaos here in Singapore!
yea. the heritage preservation, city conservation, etc… we are having the same issue here. Too many structures/buildings with historic value being torn down here. The saddest part is the original sites are usually bought by the biggest Property Developers for luxury apartments, shopping malls and that kind of purposes. It’s wiping out the original face of a district.
